Clothing Connection Online x FERO x MageCloud: A legacy menswear brand shows a 29.7% uplift in completed checkouts.
See how a controlled A/B test proved the revenue impact of a smoother checkout experience.
“FERO delivered a 29.7% uplift in completed checkouts during our A/B test, backed by a responsive, reliable support team. After years of expensive tools and slow service, the results and the help, made the decision an easy yes.”
A brand that has already seen every checkout mistake
Clothing Connection Online is not experimenting with ecommerce. They have lived through every phase of it.
Founded in 2004, the business grew out of decades of menswear expertise passed down from Mike’s father, a Hong Kong trained custom tailor who spent years traveling the world fitting clients before settling in the United States.
That history includes working with multiple payment service providers and checkout solutions, and seeing the same pattern repeat as platforms scaled.
The breaking point and the switch that changed everything
Over the years, Clothing Connection Online partnered with multiple checkout providers as the business grew. One provider initially felt like the right fit. It was agile, responsive, and easy to work with, but that experience did not last. As the platform grew, support became fragmented, ownership blurred, and resolving real checkout issues took longer and longer.
At that point, Mike was not just looking for a new checkout. He was looking for someone who would take responsibility. That is when Clothing Connection Online started working with FERO. From the very first conversation, FERO’s team was present, hands on, and deeply knowledgeable about payments, even during critical moments.
Working closely with their ecommerce development partner, MageCloud, FERO was able to quickly identify integration challenges and plan a rollout that wouldn’t disrupt day-to-day operations.
“I can always get someone on the phone, and I never feel like I’m talking to someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing.”
Proving it with data through a no risk A B test
Once FERO was in place, the next step was not a long contract or a slow migration. It was a controlled experiment. Rather than asking for commitment upfront, FERO proposed a no risk A B test against Clothing Connection Online’s existing checkout.
“Basically, they said, ‘If we don’t prove this works, walk away.’ Nobody does that. It made me feel like you were really confident in what you were doing.”
The test went live quickly, with FERO handling setup, measurement, and monitoring alongside the development partner MageCloud.
An adaptive checkout engine that uses predictive AI to automatically adjust, showing the right design, layout, or payment option based on the shopper's behaviour. It integrates easily with ecommerce platforms and can be deployed in under 10 minutes.
Results that removed all doubt
From the outside, FERO’s checkout looks simple. From the inside, that simplicity is doing a lot of work. The checkout flow guides customers step by step and prevents common errors before they happen. Customers cannot skip ahead or enter information out of order. Each step builds on the previous one, reducing confusion and abandonment.
“You can’t move to the next step until you answer the previous one. That makes a big difference.”
One of the most noticeable improvements came from address validation. Instead of allowing free form inputs that later caused shipping issues, the checkout enforces real, verified addresses.
“With our old setup, you could put anything in the address line and the order would still come through. Now it has to be a real address. The data coming through is cleaner, and that matters because our shipping is automated.”
For Mike, the takeaway was clear. This was not guesswork. It was a system built on research and iteration.

Agency feedback
As an agency specialising in Magento since version 1.4, says Paul Ryazanov, CEO of MageCloud, we have evaluated and implemented a wide range of checkout solutions, including OneStep Checkout and OnePage Checkout. However, none provided the same level of optimisation and efficiency in the underlying background processes.
The FERO development team made the delivery process exceptionally straightforward and demonstrated a strong willingness to implement custom features that were critical to achieving the desired outcome for our client.
“Thanks to the exclusive support provided by FERO, we were able to deploy the solution within days. As a result, we already have additional clients preparing to adopt the same approach.” (Paul Ryazanov)
The takeaway
Clothing Connection Online did not set out to change checkout providers. They were forced to when performance started getting in the way of the business. What they found with FERO was more than a replacement.
With a 29.7% uplift in completed checkouts, a no risk A/B test, and a great collaboration between FERO and MageCloud that consistently shows up when it matters, FERO delivered both measurable impact and peace of mind.
“Once we saw the results and knew we had people we could rely on, the decision was easy.”
Today, Clothing Connection Online runs on a checkout that is built to evolve, supported by a team that treats conversion and payments as a shared responsibility, not a ticket number. That is what makes the partnership work.
